Dear Decision Sciences Collaborative,
The holidays are nearly upon us. Before looking ahead to next year, I’d like to congratulate the winners of our Fall 2019 grants competition: O Sub Kwon (Economics) – Information (acquisition) cascades Cäzilia Loibl & Sanja Ilic (Human Sciences) – Experience sampling of financial and dietary decisions of chronically ill individuals We have several exciting events in the works for 2020. I will be announcing those in the coming months. For now, please mark your calendars for April 17 for our Spring Research Forum which will feature George Loewenstein (Carnegie Mellon) as our keynote speaker, as well as March 15 for our spring round of grant proposals. We are making some small changes to our grants program; please see below for more details. Pilot Grants to Launch Ideas and Careers March 15, 2020, is our next deadline for small grants for faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students. This is also now the deadline for undergraduate small grants. Going forwards, undergraduate grants will be evaluated twice a year at the same time as the other grants. In order to promote interdisciplinarity, we would also like to announce that we will be giving extra consideration to grant proposals that feature research teams from multiple departments. Speaker of Interest On Friday, January 17 at 2pm, Jonathan Baron (University of Pennsylvania) will be giving a virtual seminar to the Decision Psychology group on the topic of moral decision-making. Jonathan Baron is a world-renowned decision psychologist and the head editor of Judgment and Decision Making. Please email me (krajbich.1@osu.edu) if you are interested in attending so that we can reserve an appropriately sized room. If you know of other opportunities for DSC faculty and students, please let me know! Happy holidays! |
Best Regards,
Ian Krajbich, DSC Director
