I construct and test mathematical models of decision making.  I focus on simple decision problems such as those people encounter in basic cognitive tasks (e.g., is this something I've seen before?  Are these two things the same or different?), and I am particularly interested in discovering how estimates of confidence in these decisions arise from the decision process.
