Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

I work on the relation between emotions and values, and the relevance of both of these to rational action. I am in interested in how emotions such as envy, shame and disgust affect behavior, and whether or in what senses the contribution of these emotions to behavior enhances or diminishes rationality. I also work on the evolution of moral and emotional capacities, and on game theoretic models of justice.
