Dear Decision Sciences Collaborative,
This month I want to update you on our events that are happening later in the spring: our Spring Research Forum (March 24) and our mini-conference on Decisions, Cognition, and the Climate Crisis (April 28-29). See below for details. As a reminder, we also have our spring grant competition, with a deadline of March 20. This time around we have raised the maximum funding amount to $5000 for proposals that involve researchers in multiple departments. Please see the DSC website for more information about applying: https://decisionsciences.osu.edu/funding-opportunities DSC Spring Research Forum Our Spring Research Forum will be happening on Friday March 24 from 9:30am to 1pm. The event will include a keynote lecture from Oleg Urminsky (University of Chicago Booth), short presentations from OSU faculty: Grant Donnelly (Marketing & Logistics) and Cäzilia Loibl (Human Sciences), 1-2 submitted talks, and a catered poster session. To be considered for a talk, please submit a detailed abstract (1000 words max) and a short abstract (100 words max). To be considered for a poster, please only submit a short abstract (100 words max). Submit abstracts to krajbich.1@osu.edu by Friday February 24. There will be cash prizes for the submissions that are selected for talks. Abstracts that are not selected for talks will be considered for posters instead. About Prof. Oleg Urminsky: Prof. Urminsky studies consumer and managerial decision making and its implications for marketing management. He is particularly interested in goals and motivations, intertemporal decision making, consumer beliefs and inference, statistical reasoning and customer relationship management (e.g., reward/loyalty programs and incentive systems). His recent research investigates the role of identity in decision making, how emotion relates to financial decision making, the factors affecting consumer impatience, how suggested default amounts affect donation behavior and the importance of field experiments for testing policies. Decisions, Cognition, and the Climate Crisis Please mark your calendars for Friday & Saturday April 28-29, for a two-day mini-conference on how the decision- and cognitive sciences can help us tackle the climate crisis. The event will feature talks from both OSU and non-OSU speakers. A schedule and list of speakers will be available soon. For now, please mark your calendars and plan to join us for the event. This event is jointly hosted by the DSC and the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences (CCBS). Tell us about your decision sciences research! Please email us with your latest and greatest publications or news stories related to decision science. We would love to share these stories with the whole DSC community. |
Best Regards,
Ian Krajbich, DSC Director
