Dear Decision Sciences Collaborative,
Spring break is upon us! I trust you will all be using the time to work on your DSC grant applications, which are due March 15. We are looking forward to reading about your latest ideas! Next month, we have a few exciting DSC events: April 9-10, we have three brilliant decision scientists visiting us: Jerome Busemeyer (Indiana University), Adele Diederich (Jacobs University), and John Clithero (University of Oregon). Talks are tentatively planned for Thursday and Friday mornings. The following week, April 17, we have our DSC Spring Forum featuring George Loewenstein (Carnegie Mellon) as our keynote speaker. In addition to the keynote, faculty elevator talks, and DSC grant awardee talks, we will also have a poster session. If you are interested in presenting at the poster session, please submit a 100-word abstract to Tyler Fraser MacDonald by April 1. We are tentatively scheduled for 11:00am to 3:00pm in Psychology 035 and the lobby outside for the poster session. Finally, on May 1, we have a DSC co-sponsored talk with Fisher Business School, featuring Nina Mazar (Boston University). Nina is the current president of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making and studies topics such as morality, pricing, financial decision making, and pro-social behavior. Further details TBD. Facebook has a request for proposals to study the societal issues of misinformation and polarization related to social communication technologies. Applications are due April 1. Click here for more details. If you know of other opportunities for DSC faculty and students, please let me know! |
Best Regards,
