Dear Decision Sciences Collaborative,
October is a busy month for the DSC, as we have our Autumn grant deadline as well as several exciting talks. Please see the announcements below for more information. As always, please send me any information about future events or opportunities that you think would be of interest to the collaborative. Pilot Grants to Launch Ideas and Careers October 15, 2019 is our next deadline for small grants for faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students. As always, undergraduate small grants applications also are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year. DSC November Speaker – Dr. Alessandro Acquisti Our first event of the academic year is Thursday November 21. Alessandro Acquisti (Carnegie Mellon University) will join us from 4:00 – 5:30pm in Pomerene Hall’s Ideation Lab to give a talk on “Who Benefits from the Data Economy.” The talk will integrate behavioral economics and social media research to explore: 1) the trade-offs associated with privacy protections, 2) the allocation of data economy benefits, and 3) how individual awareness (or not) of such trade-offs and allocations informs decision-making. If you are interested in meeting with Dr. Acquisti that day, please e-mail Ian Krajbich (krajbich.1@osu.edu). Dr. Acquisti’s visit is organized by the Program on Data and Governance at Moritz and co-sponsored by the Department of Economics and the DSC. For more information and updates, please see our Events page.
