Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

SENR Seminar Series: Perceptions of Electricity and Water Use

Dr. Attari will discuss findings from her research on electricity and water use. For example, when asked for the single most effective strategy they could implement to conserve energy and water, most people surveyed mention “curtailment” (e.g., turning off lights, shorter showers) rather than “efficiency improvements” (e.g., more efficient light bulbs, low-flow toilets)—in direct contrast to experts’ recommendations. And when asked to recommend conservation strategies, these individuals want to incorporate easier (non-effective) behaviors for themselves and want others to implement the harder, more effective behaviors.

Dr. Shahzeen Attari is an assistant professor at Indiana University in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
