Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Dr. Sheeran is a leading expert in how to bridge the gap between intentions and behaviors to promote improved health behaviors. His talk is part of a jointly sponsored seminar series by the Behavioral Decision Making Initiative (Social and Behavioral Science in the College of Arts and Sciences), College of Dentistry, and the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

Title: From Health Beliefs to Behavior Change

Abstract: This talk will discuss three questions: (1) What health messages, or combinations of health messages, promote behavior change? (2) How can receptiveness to health messages be enhanced? and (3) How can message reception be better translated into health actions? Findings from randomized controlled trials on medication adherence, attendance for psychotherapy, and teen pregnancy prevention will be presented.
